Sept. 2005 - Joseph Medina was named the First Head Coach of the Strong Island Sound. The ABA's Long Island, NY franchise.
In Coach Medina's Inaugural year he led the Sound to the ABA's Great Eight reaching the Final Four in a league that included 35 teams from all over the country.
Coach Medina was noted for his accomplishments recording one of the ABA's hottest streaks, finishing the season on a 10 game winning streak including 14 of the last 15 games.
Coach Medina received Honorable Mention for the ABA Coach of the Year Award.
